Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., is urging the U.S. Senate to pass a federal budget plan.

According to Capito, it has been more than 1,000 days since the Senate passed the budget.

"America has had enough of the Washington mentality of kicking the can down the road," Capito said in a news release. "Does the Senior citizen on social security have the luxury of deciding they're not going to budget within their means?  Does the family of four have the luxury of not planning ahead and budgeting for the future?  Does the small business owner have the luxury of not setting out a plan to budget spending priorities?"

Capito said in May 2011, the U.S. House passed a budget bill, but the Senate voted against it.

"I am urging the Senate to get serious about protecting taxpayer money by setting spending and savings priorities. Interest payments on our debt are now more than $200 billion annually.  I hope the Senate will change course and seek to find ways to save money." said Capito.
