James Hopkins is the morning/noon meteorologist for WOWK/WVNS-TV. He joined the station in March of 2012, coming from Savannah, Ga.

James graduated from Mississippi State University in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Meteorology. His first job took him, his fiancee and their two dogs to the west slope of Colorado where he was the weekend meteorologist at KKCO-TV in Grand Junction, Colo. He married his college sweetheart while in Colorado and they spent two years in the west. His career in television then moved them to Savannah, Ga., where James was the weekend meteorologist for WJCL-ABC 22/WTGS-FOX 28. While in Savannah, they had their daughter, Adarra Mackenzie Hopkins. They spent a year in Savannah before moving to West Virginia.

James was born in Cleveland, Ohio, spent a few years in Parkersburg, W.Va., before settling in Charlotte, N.C. at still a young age. He is an avid sports fan and loves to follow the Carolina Panthers (hopefully back to the Super Bowl) and the Miami Dolphins. He also pulls for the Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians in baseball and the Miami Heat for basketball. Growing up in Charlotte, he had to pick sides in the big North Carolina college basketball rivalry -- he chose the Tarheels!

James and his family currently live in South Hills, outside of Charleston. Often you'll catch James working out at the local YMCA with his wife or at the park chasing his daughter around. James and his wife love the outdoors and are excited for all the beautiful sights they will get to experience in wild, wonderful West Virginia -- but not on Sunday during football season when he'll be on the sofa rooting for his Panthers!
