Kristin Ketchell joined the Stormtracker 13 weather team in March 2012.

She came to WOWK from KDRV-TV in Medford, Ore., where she spent more than two years as the morning meteorologist.

Although she spent the past few years on the west coast, she is no stranger to life back east. Kristin was born and raised in New Jersey and attended college at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. She graduated with a B.S. in meteorology with a concentration in Broadcasting.

Her love of weather began long before she entered college when two of the largest winter storms rolled through her hometown during the Blizzards of '93 and '96. Then in 2006, she was vacationing with family when Hurricane Charley battered the eastern seaboard. She has always been fascinated by Mother Nature and considered herself a big "weather nerd."

In addition to weather, Kristin is also an avid animal lover and spent her time in Oregon volunteering with the Southern Oregon Humane Society. She helped with special events for the shelter, worked with the animals, and even helped with animal adoptions. She considers the experience incredibly rewarding and is looking forward to continuing to volunteer with similar organizations in West Virginia.

In her spare time, Kristin enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, traveling, and playing with her dog, Isis.

She is excited to see what West Virginia has to offer and is looking forward to what new adventures she will have the pleasure to experience.
