While former Marshall defensive end Vinny Curry enters the NFL, a former Marshall quarterback is leaving.
Former Herd QB Chad Pennington is retiring from football.
Pennington was drafted in the 2000 NFL Draft by the New York Jets in the first round with the 18th overall selection.
After eight seasons with the Jets, Pennington played three seasons with the Miami Dolphins before taking a year off due to injuries to his shoulder.
He spent a year in the broadcast booth with Fox Sports and contemplated returning to the NFL, but decided it was in the best interest of his family to retire.
