After seven weeks of search for a new women's basketball coach, Marshall finally got its man.
Marshall University Athletic Director Mike Hamrick announced Tuesday the Thundering Herd named Matt Daniel as the teams head coach.
Daniel, 35, replaces Royce Chadwick, who resigned last month after 11 seasons at Marshall.
He last coaches at Central Arkansas for four years and averaged 22 years over the last three seasons and guided the Sugar Bears 72-50 in four years.
Daniel was also an assistant coach at Colorado and Missouri before becoming UCA's head coach in 2008.
He led UCA to two consecutive 20-loss seasons (2007-08 and
2008-09) to its first Division I conference championship (Southland
Conference), two postseason tournaments ('12 WNIT, '11 WBI) and three
straight 21-win season.
His teams had the best overall
and conference records in the Southland Conference over the last three
seasons.
