One northbound lane of I-77 has been reopened, according to emergency officials.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department, the car was traveling north on I-77 when it swerved across the median and hit the FedEx tractor-trailer head on. Both were traveling at high speed at the time of the impact.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Sheriff's Department. The tractor-trailer driver was taken to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
A pedestrian was hit in a second wreck on I-77 at about the same time.

Early reports from the scene are that a FedEx truck and a car collided on I-77. The car appears to have been demolished and is on its roof.
