HUNTINGTON, West Virginia -

Huntington now has a place just for its four legged friends.

The PetSafe Dog Park at Ritter Park opened Saturday with a ribbon cutting ceremony, and a flood of eager dogs ready to check out the new facility.

The park's first phase cost $135,000 and includes fencing, landscaping and water fountains.

Part of that cost was offset with $100,000 the city won during last year's 'Bark For Your Park' contest sponsored by PetSafe.

A second phase will include a plaza and walking trails, and will bring the total cost of the project to about $400,000.
