One of WOWK-TV's own has won a statewide award.
The West Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters Association named Chief Photographer Randy McKinney the best photographer in the state.
McKinney has worked at Channel 13 for the past decade.
The WOWK team also was recognized for a series of stories involving another member of our team and her personal battle. "Nicky's Cancer Story" won second place for public service.
The awards ceremony took place Saturday at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston.
"We are extremely proud of our news team," News Director Elisabeth Shaffer said. "They are an excellent example of our new statement of ‘Working for You.'
