The International Conductors Conference being held at West Virginia State University this week.

Conductors are working with an orchestra chosen specifically for this project, according to a news release from the university.

Scott Woodard, director of Bands and Chair of the Music Department, created and coordinated the event.

The 10 conductors include two WVSU advanced conducting students along with individuals from as far away as Korea and India. They're taking part in a series of workshops focusing on the orchestral conducting method of Ilya Musin. Musin taught conducting at the Leningrad Conservatory for 67 years and has been responsible for the careers of some of the best conductors in the world.

The week will conclude with a free performance on Saturday, June 23 at 12:15 p.m. in the WVSU Davis Fine Arts Building. The event is open to everyone.
