Tomblin to sign order on natural gas for WV fleet

CHARLESTON (AP) — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is moving ahead with his plan to switch at least part of the state's vehicle fleet from gasoline and diesel to natural gas.

At a news conference Tuesday, Tomblin will sign an executive order establishing a task force to look into transitioning the state's vehicle fleet to natural gas and developing an infrastructure to support compressed natural gas vehicles.

The task force is expected to include top executives from gas producers and companies with such relevant holdings as service stations.

Tomblin first signaled his support of natural gas vehicles during his State of the State address in January. In that speech, Tomblin said it made sense to use fuels that are produced in West Virginia.
