The Appalachian Children's Chorus travels to New York City on Monday, June 25 to participate in The Rhythms of One World 2012 International Choir Festival.
The event is produced by Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc.
The group of 45 children and their entourage leave the campus of the University of Charleston on Monday.
As the Official Children's Chorus of West Virginia, ACC represents not only West Virginia, but also the United States as the only choir from the US to be a part of this International festival.
The 34 children traveling to New York are fifth through 11th graders and are in ACC's touring choir.
On Thursday, June 28, they will join voices for an International Choral performance at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center.
The choir also will perform a solo concert at Merkin Hall at Kaufman Center on Friday, June 29.
A few of the children in Concert choir have been with ACC for up to 11 years.
Organizers say the Appalachian Children's Chorus ACC is the "Official Children's Chorus" and "Ambassadors of Music" for West Virginia.
There are almost 200 children that make up the seven ACC choirs.
The organization's mission is to develop artistic excellence, a quality music education and extraordinary opportunities for all of West Virginia's youth.
