CHARLESTON, West Virginia -

Many people will be reaching for a cool glass over water over the next few days as they  prepare for some record high temperatures.

As things heat up health experts say people should make certain to check on the elderly people in the community and anyone who doesn't have access to air conditioning.

They say it is also a good idea to make a plan for how you are going to stay cool, and review the warning signs for heat exhaustion.

Also don't forget to check on your pets too and make certain they have plenty of water and access to shade. Never leave them in the car.
