We should soon know more about the dangers of storing a volatile chemical in Kanawha County.

The National Academy of Sciences will conduct a meeting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Dunbar on the use and storage of Methyl Isocyanate at the Bayer CropScience plant in Institute.

The report, which was completed in May, states Bayer wanted to reduce the risks of storing the toxic chemical but that it failed to incorporate all possible hazard control methods.

Several members of the committee which wrote the report will present its findings and take questions.
