A Logan County woman pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to conspiracy to commit arson according to United States Attorney Booth Goodwin.
Kimberly Dawn Kinder, 46, of Chapmanville admitted that she was part of a conspiracy to burn down a residential rental unit located in Van, Boone County, in September 2009. She also admitted her role in starting the fire and receiving $4,000 in insurance proceeds from her co-conspirator.
Kinder said that she went into one of the rental units and poured gasoline on a pile of clothes in the living room then lit it on fire.
Later, Kinder's co-conspirator filed an insurance claim with Nationwide Insurance Company and received $80,716.51. Kinder was paid from that money.
Kinder faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when she is sentenced in September.
