Frontier Communications this morning made a donation to a college organization.

The company made a $100,000 to the Independent College Enterprise to support online access and information programs for West Virginia High School students.

ICE is an organization made up of nine private colleges located in West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Massachusetts. The donation was announced during a news conference at the University of Charleston, which is a member of ICE.

"While broadband provides the platform for instruction in the 21st century, we also see independent and public institutions of higher education using technology to communicate efficiently and effectively with students and prospective students, Frontier West Virginia's senior vice president and general manager Dana Waldo said in a news release.

"We recognize that West Virginia's independent colleges and universities share our vision for giving more high school students an opportunity to learn, and this grant will help them achieve their goals."
