A Beckley man was killed Wednesday evening when a tractor-trailer rear-ended him at a toll booth on the West Virginia Turnpike.

Jeremy P. Dickens, 34, was killed in the collision at Toll Plaza B at Pax in Fayette County, according to a news release from the West Virginia State Police.

The wreck happened at about 6:35 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike, the news release states.

A tractor-trailer driven by Michael Reeves Daughtery, 46, of Parsons, Kan., failed to stop and hit the back of Dickens' 2011 Suzuki SX4, according to the news release. The collision caused Dickens' vehicle to hit the back of another tractor-trailer, which was stopped at the toll booth.

The State Police is continuing to investigate the wreck.
