Cabell Health Department offers advise on staying cool

Posted: Updated:

It turned out to be a hot first day of summer and members of the Cabell-Huntington Health Department say its best to keep cool to stay healthy.

They say hot temperatures can be dangerous to children and senior citizens.

Members advise everyone to drink plenty of fluids and try to stay out of the sun if possible.

If you have to spend time in the sunshine, they advise using a sunscreen with a grade of SPF 15 or more.

If you feel sick, get in the shade, sit down, and drink cold water.

Use a cold cloth around the face and neck and rest.

Humid weather can be hard on those with asthma and other breathing problems, so use caution when working or playing in the heat.
