Kanawha deputies searching for burglary suspect who jumped into Elk River

A burglary suspect escaped from police by jumping into the Elk River in Kanawha County this morning.

Deputies now are searching for the suspect who was chased from an Elkview home at about 8:30 a.m. today, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators believe they know who the suspect is, said Lt. Sean Crosier.

The search for the suspect was ongoing as of 10:15 a.m., Crosier reported.
