Kentucky officials are investigating a collapse at a Pike County coal mine that killed a miner who was working underground, according to a report from The Associated Press.

The Kentucky Office of Mine Safety and Licensing released the information Monday.

The collapse happened Monday morning at McCoy Elkhorn Coal Corp.'s No. 23 mine.

Farley Sargent, 33, was laying track underground when a portion of the wall fell into the corridor, the agency reported.

State officials said it was the second mining-related death in Kentucky this year.
