The Scioto County Sheriff's office arrested three suspects on drug-related charges Monday, June 25. The Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, which consists of Narcotics Detectives from the Scioto County Sheriff's Office, the Portsmouth Police Department, and agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed the search warrant at a room of the Super 8 Motel in Rosemount.
Detectives forced their way into the room, according to a news release from the sheriff's office, when 31-year-old Aaron W. Anderson jumped from the third floor window of the room onto the parking. Law enforcement personnel were waiting to arrest him. In addition, 33-year-old Darnell A. Wilcox and 29-year-old Daniel D. Washington Jr. were arrested.
A search of the room revealed almost 47 grams of suspected heroin, digital scales containing suspected heroin residue, an unspecified amount of marijuana, a loaded firearm, and approximately $1,700 in cash. Authorities also confiscated suspected heroin and approximately $2,000 cash from Anderson, according to the news release.
Anderson was treated on scene and eventually flown to Cabell-Huntington Hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
Wilcox and Washington were arrested and charged with heroin trafficking and possession. They are also facing firearms charges. Both Wilcox and Washington are scheduled back in Portsmouth Municipal Court on June 28.
Cases against Wilcox, Washington, and Anderson will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor's Office to be presented to a Scioto County Grand Jury.
