Thomas A. Heywood, an attorney with Bowles Rice McDavid
Graff and Love of Charleston, was elected chair of the Southern West Virginia
Community and Technical College Board of Governors on June 19. Wilma J.
Zigmond, superintendent of Logan County schools, was elected vice chair and
Logan businessman Glenn T. Yost, was elected secretary.
Heywood replaces Terry R. Sammons of Gilbert as chair.
Heyood had been vice chair, and Zigmond had been secretary. Sammons will remain
on the board.
The CTC board has 12 members. Nine are citizen
members appointed by the governor, and three are institutional members elected
by the constituent groups they represent ─ faculty, classified staff and
student body.
In addition to Heywood, Zigmond, and Yost, citizen
members appointed by the governor include Linda Q. Akers, Kevin Fowler, Shelly
Huffman, Jada Hunter, George Kostas and Sammons. Institutional members are George
Morrison (faculty representative), Debbie Dingess (classified staff
representative) and Eileen Aranas (student representative).
Southern West Virginia
Community and Technical College operates four campuses and one site in Boone,
Logan, Lincoln, Mingo and Wyoming counties.
