The weather is heating up and the Ashland, Boyd County, Catlettsburg Emergency Management office is preparing to keep the public safe.
Starting June 28, there will be four cooling stations set up at fire departments in the county that will allow the community to chill out. There will be water and snacks available for anyone who is visiting.
This is the second year for the service and the Emergency Management office wanted to help the public avoid any health issues associated with the heat.
"Some people don't have air conditioners and some fail. Some people just need a place to get cool. You have utility workers, police officers, and some people just need to get cool for a few minutes. We felt like this was a good idea," said Brent Webster who is the Director of Emergency Management.
The cooling stations will be open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday from 10 a.m.- 6p.m.
Cooling station locations:
Ashland Fire Station #1- Carter Avenue, Ashland
Ashland Fire Station #2- South 29th Street at Beech Street, Ashland
England Hill Fire Department- Mayo Trail at Paddle Creek, Catlettsburg
Westwood Fire Department- Main Street, Westwood
