The suspect who was arrested after the standoff is Eric Olive, officials said. Olive has been charged with domestic battery. Police said he never threatened them during the standoff.

The loud booms that were heard at the scene were gas canisters being fired into the house, according to officials.

Coopers Creek Road, which was closed during the standoff, has been reopened, according to emergency dispatchers.

 


 

UPDATE

A man in handcuffs was led from the scene of the standoff just after 7 a.m., according to a report from the scene.

SWAT teams started leaving the scene shortly afterward.

Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies are in a standoff with a man near Big Chimney, emergency officials said.

Five Mile Road in that area is closed because of the incident, which was reported at about 5 a.m., officials said.
