The National Weather Service issued the fire danger for southern West Virginia and southeast Kentucky as high.
The concern is for grass and 'fine fuels,' defined as dead grass and old leaves.
The criteria for heat advisories are 2 or more hours of Heat Index above 100 degrees.
Extreme Heat Warnings are defined by temperatures at 105 degrees or higher for two or more hours.
