CHARLESTON, West Virginia -
A Mingo County woman pleaded guilty Friday to embezzling $25,000 from an Alkol Post Office.
Kristen K. Maynard, 29, admitted that she took the money from the Lincoln County Post Office during a six-month period. Maynard was a manager at the office.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, cash from stamp and money orders was taken and used to pay personal bills and gambling debts. Maynard changed the record keeping to cover up the theft.
Maynard could get up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. She is sentenced on Oct. 1, 2012.
