Summer Motion has been the highlight of the year in Ashland for nearly 25 years, attracting thousands of visitors to the five-day event.
Set-up for this year's event started Thursday afternoon. With temperatures at 100 degrees, it made a tough job even tougher.
"After we get this tent up we'll take a 15-20 minute break. Usually on cool weather we keep on going," said Jeremy Clark of Chillicothe, Ohio.
"We are resting, taking many breaks, sitting in the shade and drinking lots of water. We have one trailer that has air conditioning in it so we'll go in there for a few minutes," said Allen George of South Point, Ohio.
Hotter than normal temperatures may be part of this year's Summer Motion, so organizers have taken steps to make sure no one is overcome by the heat. For starters extra Emergency Medical Technicians will be on hand.
"There will be plenty of water and there will be the really nice stations that have the water that just sprinkles down on you and cools you off quickly," said Sue Dowdy, Executive Director of the Ashland Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
Cooling stations have also been set up at Ashland's four fire stations.
"We definitely want to take this seriously. We don't want to think we've had 100 degree heat before. We have, but people need to take it seriously. They do need to worry about staying hydrated," said Ashland Fire Chief Scott Penick.
"You just have to take precautions as the weather comes about," said Dowdy.
Summer Motion begins Saturday, June 30th and ends July 4th.
