The National Park Service is launching a program that allows children to pair up with rangers for a day at New River Gorge National River in Fayette County.

"Nature captivates us, especially at this time of year when we are in the great outdoors," said Jodi French-Burr, a park ranger and the Northeast Region Outdoor Ethics Coordinator for NPS.

Kids can enjoy a large range of activities, from observing a coal mining display to bird-watching.

For more information about the ranger events, please visit http://www.nps.gov/neri. All activities are free unless otherwise noted. The program runs from July 3 through July 8.
