Meals on Wheels drivers keep cool

Posted: Updated:

When drivers for the Meals on Wheels program head out to make deliveries Friday, they'll be a little cooler thanks to the quick thinking of their boss.

Terry Cunningham, interim director for the program, purchased a new cooler and cold pack for drivers in Cabell county.

Each driver will hit the road with a cooler full of drinks to stay hydrated when making their rounds.

Cunningham says some drivers deliver nearly 40 meals per day and some even have to walk a distance to get to the doors.

She said drivers are not only there to deliver meals, but also help check on people to see if they are in need.

Drivers also got a new sport wrap that they can keep in the freezer, then use as a cool towel to stay cool.
