Traveling around the Charleston area has been a challenge for motorists at times so far this summer.
That was especially true Thursday on Interstate 64 West near South Charleston. Construction on the South Charleston Bridge forced traffic from four lanes, down to just one. Throughout the day, traffic backed up for miles on the Interstate.
But by next week, that area should have four lanes open during peak travel times, said Brent Walker, spokesman for the West Virginia Department of Transportation.
