The West Virginia State Police today identified the victims
of Wednesday's triple-murder in Webster
County.
Dustin Brown, 26, Lamar D. Allen (also known as Elle
Coates), 49, and Denise L. Coates, 49, all of Hacker
Valley were killed at about 6:30 p.m., according to a news release from
the State Police.
Michael York, 44, and his wife, Amanda York, 28, have each
been charged with three counts of murder in the case, the news release states. Michael
York also was charged with one count of concealment of a body.
Amanda York called Webster County 911 at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and said she had shot the
victims after they made threats, according to the news release.
A 5-year-old in the home, however, told police that Michael
York was the one who killed the three people, the news release states.
Amanda York later told police that she told her husband to
go to Kentucky while she stayed
in Webster County
to hide one of the bodies, according to the news release. She then told
investigators that Michael York had actually hidden the body before leaving and
that she had tried to help him.
Michael York was arrested on Interstate 79 in Clay
County several hours after the shooting,
the news release states.
