Home improvement stores feeling rush after storms

Posted: Updated:

Several home improvement stores in Kanawha County have been inundated with customers after heavy storms in Kanawha County left nearly 80,000 Appalachian Power customers without electricity.

At Lowe's in Kanawha City, a store manager reported heavy sales starting at 6 a.m., and the store had nearly sold out of batteries and flashlights by about 10 a.m. Saturday.

Along Corridor G, several stores were closed, and the handful that were open were operating off of backup generators. At Home Depot, a similar crush of customers kept the store busy.
