The 24th annual Summer Motion is under way in Ashland, despite several large trees toppling on tents and the Central Park grounds.

Crews spent Saturday morning clearing large trees that crushed a supply tent and golf carts. The storm delayed the start of Summer Motion by two hours, but the committee has been working hard to restore the park to ensure that the event goes off without a hitch.

Volunteers had a close call Friday night when a tree landed on their shelter, but thankfully, no one was hurt.

"We had a lot of people in the park setting up and they took cover in the concession stand. The tree that tree trimmers worked on Saturday morning came close to the building and branches hit the building. We're just thankful no one got hurt," said Chuck Charles who President of Summer Motion.

All of the events and entertainment are still on schedule for Ashland's Summer Motion 2012.
