West Virginia American Water running on generators to provide for Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln counties

Posted: Updated:

Due to power outage affecting thousands across the Mountain State, West Virginia American Water is operating on generators and working around the clock to keep providing water to its' customers, according to a press release.

The company's water treatment plant in Huntington serves Cabell, Wayne, and Lincoln counties. The plant is fully operational and crews have been working since the storm hit Friday night to maintain water levels in the storage tanks.

Some customers located in higher elevations and furthest from the system might experience low water pressure. Crews are visiting remote sites of the water system to repair the disruption.

The Huntington Water Treatment Plant offers a coin-operated water filling station at its location on 24th Street by the Ohio River. A water tanker truck is expected to be available at a second location.
