Storm damage didn't deter American Heart Association's Heart Chase in Ashland

Posted: Updated:

The American Heart Association hosted the first-ever Heart Chase in Ashland's Central Park, where several large trees had fallen over from the storm Friday night.

Despite the destruction, the event was able to go on because organizers were intent on sending an important message. The Heart Chase allowed 35 teams of 5 people to travel all over Ashland in the "Amazing Race" fashion. It was meant to encourage exercise and raise money for the American Heart Association.

"I came here last night and the park was crazy. Everybody has worked together to make this Heart Chase happen. This was the first ever Heart Chase in Ashland, Kentucky," said Lydia Pruitt with the American Heart Association.

The event was a part of Summer Motion 2012.
