HUNTINGTON, West Virginia -
Cabell County Emergency Operations has been activated to provide public information regarding shelters and non-emergency assistance.
The activation allows county and city leaders to gather in one place to share information and assess the situation.
Elizabeth Ayers, Public Information Officer for Cabell-Huntington Health Department says the goal at this time is identifying shelters where people can go if they lost power in Friday night's storm and need a cool place to stay.
People who need information about assistance that's available can call the non-emergency number 304-526-6544.
Shelters are now open at the Salvation Army on 12th Avenue in Huntington, and Big Sandy Civic Arena Conference Center on 3rd Avenue.
