Fast food restaurants see long lines

Posted: Updated:

The power outages have caused a surge for business at many local restaurants.

Many fast food restaurants in our area have seen lines in the drive thru stretch out into the street.

One such instance was at a McDonald's on Fifth Avenue in Huntington.

Customers we talked to said a wait for more than 30 minutes wasn't uncommon Sunday morning as many people tried to get breakfast.

They say the long lines can be an inconvenience, but when you don't have power at your home you don't have much choice.

"It is crazy. Yesterday I was in line for 45 minutes to get food for them. Today I've been over here for 15 minutes and thought it would be quicker but it is not seeming to be," said customer Virena Elkins.

We talked to one employee who told us they tried to call in extra help but because of the power and phone outages, they had a hard time getting in touch with as many people as they had hoped.
