Area closures announced

Several area closures have been announced for schools, day care services and other events in the aftermath of severe storms that have left most residents of the tri-state area without electricity for several days.

  • All courts in West Virginia will be closed July 2,
  • South Ashland Family Resource Center
  • The Kanawha County School central office in Creed will be closed July 3,
  • Elk Center and Flinn Summer Camps, secondary summer school and extended school year programs in Kanawha County will be closed through Friday,
  • Boone County School offices will be closed, but the Boone County Board of Education meeting will be at 7 p.m. July 2 at Madison Middle School gym,
  • The upper portion Coonskin Park will be closed indefinitely; the lower portion of the park including the pool will open Wednesday, July 4; Shawnee Park and Big Bend are open along with the swimming pool at East Bank,
  • St. Albans Summer Basketball League, Ordinance Park is canceled July 2, but will be back July 5 if the electricity is restored in the area, 
  • All schools in Roane County,
  • Wayne County Schools have canceled their summer program until July 5,
  • The Wayne County Board of Education meeting is rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 5,
  • The Wayne County Courthouse will be closed until power is restored,
  • West Virginia State University,
  • Putnam County Board of Education summer classes/activities and board offices,
  • West Virginia Public Employees day care,
  • Elk Center summer camp and day care,
  • St. John Heart & Hand Daycare in South Charleston,Flynn Summer camp,
  • WVU Tech from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
  • All Concord University classes will be closed July 2-3,
  • There will be no summer school for Omar or Crooked Creek, but Logan, Man and Chapmanville summer schools will take place as usual,
  • Ashland Independent Day Care through July 3,
  • All schools in Wood County will be closed, including summer programs, classes and summer feeding sites,
  • Community Trust Bank offices in Fort Gay and Alum Creek,
  • Wood County Schools will be closed Tuesday, July 3,
  • Cabell County Schools, High School Extended School Year Program at the Cabell County Career Technology Center will be closed Tuesday, July 3
