The Tri-State Transit Authority in Huntington provided a courtesy to some local residents.

A bus took residents from Madison Manor to The Salvation Army on Sunday.

It was not mandatory for residents to go.

The apartment building has been without power since Friday evening.

The Salvation Army is a shelter for area residents affected by the power outage.

Those that went could get a meal, shower and get out of the heat for awhile.

"A lot of people here are elder and it is a great service for them to get air conditioning and water," said resident Rodney Vance.

About 70 people live in Madison Manor.
