Church holds service without power

Posted: Updated:

The loss of power was not enough to keep one local church from having a Sunday service.

Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Huntington had its usual Sunday service.

The church has been without power since Friday evening.

It has been without air conditioning for the last month after thieves stole the church's three air conditioning units.

The church usually has about 50 people in attendance.

There were around 15 in attendance on Sunday.

"We're still going to have service because I don't think a power loss is a reason not to have service. Scripture teaches that Jesus is the light of the world so he is the only light we'll need on the day," said Roy Terry, Reverend of Sixteenth Street Baptist Church.

Terry says that the air conditioning units are expected to be replaced later this week.
