Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin made his second trip around the Mountain State Sunday to assess the damage from Friday's storms.

Tomblin boarded a Blackhawk helicopter Sunday in order to get a first hand look at the devastation in Harrison and Ohio counties and other areas.

"One of the biggest drawbacks that I've seen is the lack of communication," Tomblin said. "We've got counties where all of the radio stations were out.  Some of them don't have TV."

The governor is advising people to stay off the roads to make things easier for crews.

"Just let the emergency personnel do their thing to clear the roads, to get the power lines back up rather than being out sightseeing," he said. "The quicker the officials can get their work done, the quicker the power is going to be back on."

Tomblin said the heat is not helping damage assessment efforts.

"It's more of an inconvenience of not having the power with the high temperatures on top of that," he said. "It's very dangerous."
