Heat and no power make it difficult for those with medical issues

Posted: Updated:

Pamela Cotton has been without power in her home in Simms Apartments in Huntington.

Cotton suffers from shortness of breath and is on oxygen.

She has been having to use a smaller oxygen tank because the larger machines uses electricity.

The smaller tank does not last her as long.

Cotton says the company that supplies her oxygen has been backed up with orders because of the power outages.

She says its been a difficult situation, but she is managing the best that she can.

"Its different because I am used to having the fans and air conditioning. It will make us appreciate electricity even more," says Cotton.

Her and the other residents of the apartment building have been spending much of the day in the lobby since it is a little cooler than their apartments.
