TEAYS VALLEY, West Virginia -

Many went to Teays Valley Cinemas in Putnam County for relief from the heat.

This past weekend Assistant Manager Cody Hager said the theatre tripled its regular weekend business.

The business was the only theatre in the area to remain open.

He says people without power called from Huntington, Charleston and even out of state wanting to come for some relief from the heat and enjoy a movie at the same time.

"The phone was constantly ringing.  We had somebody on the phone at all times.  We had people at all of our registers and it's very rare we use all of our registers.  We have quite a few.  It was nothing like we expected," said Hager.

Because of the influx of business Hager said they ran out of some food items like hot dogs.  Hager adds today was also busier than normal, but he expects the boost in business to taper off this week.
