CHARLESTON, West Virginia -
As Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin continues to travel the state to monitor and assess the recovery and cleanup efforts after the June 29 storm, he plans to end his day July 3 with a food drive at the Capitol Complex.
Tomblin will meet with constituents at local cooling stations and shelters throughout the state. The Governor's Food Drive will start at 5 p.m. at the Capitol.
The food collection effort will gather items such as water, canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned meat, canned soups, oatmeal, dry cereal, cream of wheat, baby formula, peanut butter, pasta, chili, shelf-stable milk and dry beans.
The collection will go to the Mountaineer Food Bank and Huntington Food Bank, both of which supply non-perishable food to pantries in more than 50 West Virginia counties.
