Fire starts in vacant Huntington building

Posted: Updated:

A fire involving two vacant buildings in Huntington started just before midnight Monday.

It happened in an alley near the 900 block of Douglas Street.

One of the buildings was being used for storage.

It started in one building and spread to the storage building.

The fire also caused the siding on a nearby home on Douglas Street to catch fire.

The owner used his garden hose to extinguish those flames.

"People knocking, our son-in-law was pounding on the door telling us to get up. We could see the flames through the window," said neighbor David Awne.

The State Fire Marshal has been called in and the fire is under investigation.
