Many trees in Huntington down due to recent storms

Posted: Updated:

The recent storms caused a lot of downed trees and limbs in Huntington.

Mayor Kim Wolfe says that the city will check to see if any trees have been damaged and need to be cut down or trimmed.

In the past, the city has received grants to trim trees that have dead or decayed limbs

Wolfe says the city was fortunate that they have done this.

"The limbs and trees that came down were perfectly healthy trees. It was just a volume of wind so we'll have to see with the damage that was done with the healthy trees," said Wolfe.

Wolfe adds that if it is a tree on someone's personal property, it is the owner's responsibility to take care of any tree issues as they see fit.
