West Virginia has been awarded a $4.1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to help with debris removal after the June 29 derecho.
"I am delighted to see this generous grant coming to our state, and I know that it will be very useful in cleanup efforts in the area," Capito said in a news release. "It has been a hard week for many people, and we are working diligently to repair the damage caused over the weekend."
Capito said the citizens of West Virginia had been very patient during storm recovery.
"This grant will help our state to return to normalcy," she said.
