Beat the heat with a free day of family fun at
the Clay Center.
Enjoy complimentary museum gallery admission and planetarium shows, plus
discounts on films, Thursday through Sunday. Free Wi-Fi is also available in
the Center's café and lobby.
Clay Center President and CEO Judy Wellington
said offering free admission is a way for the Center to help the community in
the aftermath of the recent storms.
"So many people across our area have spent days
without electricity, and we wanted to do something to help," she said. "This
gives kids a chance to play and have fun, and it allows everyone to cool off
and enjoy a comfortable day indoors at no cost."
At the Center, guests can explore the science and
art galleries of the Avampato Discovery Museum,
watch a film or planetarium show in the ElectricSky Theater and enjoy free
science demonstrations.
Visitors can uncover the mysteries of the mouth
in "Your Spitting Image," an interactive science exhibit in the Mylan
Explore-atory, and visit the art gallery to view photographs, collages and
multimedia pieces that span an artist's 30-year career in "Desire for Magic:
Patrick Nagatani 1978 – 2008."
Then, families can travel to the solar system's
largest planet in the "Jupiter: Planetary Giant" planetarium show, and meet
some majestic animals in giant screen films "Roar: Lions of the Kalahari" and
"Bears." Seating is limited – check with the box office for availability.
Free museum hours are Thursday, July 5 through
Saturday, July 7 from 10
a.m. to 5
p.m. and Sunday, July 8 from noon to 5 p.m.
