LEWISBURG -
If you are planning to head to Lewisburg or White Sulphur Springs for the Greenbrier Classic, prepare for some major traffic delays.
That is because so many people will be traveling to the area at one time.
The West Virginia State Police suggest anyone planning to attend the concerts leave early.
They say the peak time for traffic for the concerts is between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. so it is best to schedule your day to get there before that time.
The State Police will be working with the Department of Highways and local police departments to help with traffic.
"The alternative routes are a lot of two lane roads that wind around," explained Sgt. W.A. Pendleton with the West Virginia State Police. "If you don't know the route or you are not familiar with them it is best to stay on the main routes coming in to Lewisburg. We'll get you in. If you know the alternative routes by all means use them just be safe while you are driving and take your time."
Shuttles are being provided from the West Virginia State Fair Grounds in Lewisburg to the Greenbrier for the golf events.
Troopers are also suggesting that people consider carpooling to cut down on the amount of traffic on the roads.
