Roane County cleans up after Tuesday's storms

Posted: Updated:

They thought it was over.

Friday night's storm took its toll on one small community in Roane County.

One man looked out of his window and saw what he calls a funnel cloud.

Steve Parsons of Maple Hill says, "We started getting a lot of hail, and then I looked out my front door and I couldn't even see my rail, which was about six feet from my door.  then the chair went flying right past the door."

The damage here is extensive. One trailer has been knocked off of its foundation. Hay bails made their way off the hillside and through a fence.

People in this community haven't cleaned up the damage from Friday's storm yet.

Brandon Snider says "There was damage from Friday night to my house.  I just hadn't got around to fixing it yet because they told us it was going to come through again.  I left it here and it just of multiplied this evening.  We're doing one mass clean up."

These people say the only way to get through this is with teamwork.

Here, everyone is pitching in.

"Everybody was just in disbelief.  Trees down everywhere, but everyone's living and everyone's safe.  We'll live to clean up another day.  No more for a while," says Snider.
