As the days stretch out and the electricity service remains out for many communities, many are looking for ways to stay cool.
The South Charleston Ice Arena is usually a popular choice, but in the wake of the Friday, June 29 storms the facility has been without power and the ice melted.
Over the weekend the arena saw the ice melt significantly. The power has been restored and now workers are trying to turn the giant puddle back into ice.
The manager said that it could have taken a month to refreeze the ice had it melted all the way to the sand base. Fortunately, that didn't happen and the rink should be operational in the next few days.
